What fuel should I use?
All our 4-stroke lawnmower engines run on lead-free petrol. Prefer lead-free 95, which is better suited to the low compression ratio of this type of engine.
To avoid the fuel deteriorating, add a fuel preservative (ref. ZY739). -
What is the difference between an OHC, OHV and a DOV engine?
OHC, OHV and DOV are three types of 4-stroke engines that allow you work on slopes up to 20° (or 38%).
The OHC is an overhead cam engine, which is lighter and quieter than the other engines and "clean" thanks to more efficient combustion.
The DOV is a latest generation direct overhead valve engine, which offers better noise quality and better wear resistance thanks to a reduced number of moving parts. It also features a double seal air filter, which protects against dust and difficult outdoor conditions. -
I am looking to replace my 2-stroke lawnmower. Why do you no longer offer lawnmowers with this type of engines?
In spite of their performances, since 2005 2-stroke engines have been subject to the new European standards on noise and vibration. These engines have been banned from sale since the beginning of 2006. This is why Outils WOLF, like other lawnmower manufacturers, has progressively withdrawn this type of engine.

Is it possible to fit an automatic restart system to an engine that does not have one?
Technically this adaptation is only possible on engines for which the option is provided for as standard by the engine manufacturer. This is the case, for example, on Briggs & Stratton 625 Series and 650 Series engines.
Moreover, this intervention on the engine must be done by an approved After Sales service. However, the transformation is in fact so complicated and costly that it is preferable to buy a new engine equipped with automatic restarting. -
My lawnmower's engine is broken: how much would it cost to replace it?
If the engine is broken there is no choice to buy a new lawnmower.
The engine represents 70% of the cost of the lawnmower. Also, any intervention on this part of the mower would have to be done by an approved After Sales service. -
What does the noise level indicated on each lawnmower correspond to?
The figure that we give for each lawnmower is the guaranteed acoustic power (LWA). This measurement is done on the basis of a calculation determining the maximum value. The value indicated is therefore much higher than the noise perceived when using the machine, which correspond to the acoustic pressure (LPA).

Why do you sell the same ride-on mower with 3 different engines?
The choice of engine will depend on your preference for a particular make of engine. The 3 engines offered are OHV engines and are all very efficient and tough. Only their power output expressed in horsepower varies slightly The Kawasaki is a twin cylinder engine, for example.
