Laying a turf lawn
Few members of the public buy rolls of 'ready to use' lawn turf. This technique, generally used by landscape gardeners, may appeal to those who have a small surface to turn into a lawn or who wish to have immediate results.
When to lay turf?
When to lay turf? A turf lawn can be laid all year round, except in freezing periods or great heat.
In the autumn, small roots develop a few days after laying. Expect it to take at least 2 weeks for the lawn to take root.

How to lay it?
The rolls of turf must be laid within 48 hours (when they are rolled up, they are deprived of photosynthesis). You must therefore have them delivered or collect them when you are sure that you can lay them rapidly.
Standard rolls measure 2.5m long by 40cm wide (or a surface of 1.2 m²).
Laying turf is easy, something that anyone can do: simply position the rolls on the surface, which you have levelled off in advance, unroll them and water immediately.
Then water regularly so that the lawn does not dry out.
Do not walk on the law until the grass has taken root.

Is it much more expensive?
Per m², the turf solution is effectively much more expensive than buying conventional lawn seed. Note that if you buy seed for specific uses (trample-resistant, special slow growing or others) the difference between the two solutions will be a little less pronounced.
The advantages of turf can sometimes justify the expense.
