Safe mowing

For your safety and that of others, there are certain basic precautions you must take when mowing your lawn.

Before mowing

  • Always be well informed
Consult the instructions for use of your lawnmower regularly.
  • Prepare the ground
Remove from the lawn any pebbles, branches and other objects that might be projected by the lawnmower and damage the blade.
  • Make the usual checks
Check that the blade is in good condition and tight.
Check the oil and fuel levels.
If the grassbox is not attached to the lawnmower, check that its protective shield (deflector) is in place to avoid any risk of ejection backwards, i.e. towards you
To ensure comfortable mowing, position the handlebar at the right height.
Depending on the condition of the lawn, adjust the cutting height.
  • Wear the right equipment
Avoid loose clothing. Preferably wear trousers with closed, strong and non-slip shoes.

During mowing

Ensure there is no-one and no animals in the vicinity of the lawnmower while you are using it.

  • Never put a hand or foot underneath the cutting deck or underneath the rotating parts.
To obtain good results, mow in parallel lines, always overlapping a little with the wheel. When mowing on a slope, take great care when changing direction.
Follow the mowing pattern shown below.
