The Wissembourg production site

Since 1958 Outils WOLF's factory has been located in the heart of Europe (in Wissembourg, Bas-Rhin in France) on a site covering 70.000 m².

It employs 240 people, including 27 who work for the integrated Research centre.

The production of walk-behind petrol lawnmowers occupies 150 people.

Average production capacity is approximately 60,000 mowers a year; production can reach 1,000 mowers a day for the simplest models. Many parts are still manufactured in-house (handlebars and control components …). The lawnmowers are assembled on 6 production lines according to their cutting width (from 41 to 56 cm).

A production facility at the forefront of technology

Outils WOLF invests a great deal to maintain its production facility at the forefront of technology: the paint booths – the most modern in Europe when they went into service – are a good example.
In one hour, they can apply an anti-corrosion treatment and paint by an electrostatic powder process (not liquid paint) 135 lawnmower cutting decks or 6,000 small parts. This operation takes place without the release of any pollutants into the environment and without any risk to the health of the workers.
Paint resistance tests are carried out (200 hours in a salt bath) to guarantee its resistance over time.

Another example: the whole ride-on mower manufacturing process (which takes place at the Etesia factory) is done by numerically controlled robots.

Systematic end-of-line testing

Before packaging, all the petrol mowers undergo some very thorough tests in one of 3 special test cabins: checking of starting, driving speed, blade stopping time, noise and vibration levels…

These computerised tests guarantee perfect safety and total compliance with European standards and Outils WOLF's own quality standards. They also ensure the traceability of the lawnmowers produced.
