How to Choose your lawn?

In the shops, many different types of lawn seed are available to meet all types of needs.
Here is some advice on selecting the lawn that will best suit the use you have in mind.

Seed professionals make a distinction between 3 types of lawn:

The ornamental lawn

Its purpose is mainly to look good. Choose a mixture consisting mainly of grasses known as FESCUES (red, tall or sheeps fescue).
It should be noted that these lawns take longer than others to establish themselves.

The lawn for relaxation and pleasure

You see your lawn as a living space like a room in the house. In this case, opt for a mixture of grasses consisting of 30 to 40% of trample-resistant varieties: ENGLISH RYE GRASS, TALL FESCUE or SMOOTH MEADOW GRASS.

The lawn intended for intensive trampling

This is the type of lawn generally used by local authorities and landscapers for sports fields and play areas. If your children like to play in the garden, you can opt for this type of mixture consisting of at least 60% trample-resistant varieties: ENGLISH RYE GRASS, TALL FESCUE or SMOOTH MEADOW GRASS.

The progress that has been made over the last few years by producers is astonishing. You can now find specific mixtures for shaded areas, dry areas or for reviving a thinning lawn.
